Act II-Venus Square Uranus
Curtains are raising on Act II in this triptych transit of liberation. Venus and Uranus square off for a second time on August 9th and then illuminated wisdom shines through on August 13th, when Venus is reborn in her cycle. Now we move into the second act, as Venus makes her way through retrograde and returns to this aspect once again. Venus, the planet of love, compassion, peace. The planet that oversees our relationships with others and ourself, has been officially retrograde since July 22nd. She is visibly gone from the night sky, and will not reappear until she crosses the path of the Sun on August 13th and will take her place as a morning star at the end of August, once she is far enough from the rays of the Sun. For now, she is is undergoing a death process, she is in the underworld.
Visiting with Persephone, the Goddess of the Underworld and the one woman who Aphrodite went to battle with over son/lover, Adonis. Now the two meet again, in the darkness, where we sometimes need to look at the ugly, shadow aspects of our affairs. How have we played not so nice, been unkind, lacked compassion and/or understanding? How have we not valued others or ourself enough? Persephone has enough compassion to accept Venus and to advise her, despite the past.
Uranus and Venus together also brings forward the creation myth of Aphrodite, it was from the castrated genitals of Ouranos that were thrown into the sea, that Aphrodite was born into. The goddess of beauty and love was born from a violent act, from the sea in an explosion of foam, she was birthed in an act of pain and death, and lacking true intercourse of the Gods. Yet through the pain, the violence, she rises above it and has found honor is representing harmony, pleasure, beauty, eros. Her shadow side can induce jealousy, vanity, rage and secret affairs.
And so it is through this second square of Uranus that maybe we hold up the Venusian hand mirror and look into the darker side of our own story that we struggle with, and honestly seeks what is present. Stare hard into the abyss and see what is reflected back.
On August 13th, Venus and the Sun meet through cazimi. It is this meeting, where Venus will be in the protected graces of the Sun and will burn off her old form. She is now at a rebirth moment, her cycle is renewed, and so perhaps is our own perspective. Take note what fresh angles are flowing in, what illuminating rays breaking in the shadows are being reflected back to us, what divine truth we can carry forward to liberating ourself not only in relationships that are no longer serving us, but patterns we place on ourself that keep us in right relation to self-worth and personal value. This is a power period of new creation, new insight, new passion.
The last square will take place on September 29th, and Venus will be rising brightly in the morning sky, and Uranus, the revolutionary firestarter will be now be retrograde. This reversal can be seen as a rise in more affirmed values and a retreat in the need for change around us. An awareness of self-worth is the revolution, and the requirement for external change is no longer required but just exists as form.
