I Will To Will Thy Will
I will to will Thy will.
This is a simple prayer for the soul’s journey. During the next couple weeks, this prayer may be challenged to be heard. Or so it seems.
We currently have two planets, Mercury and Jupiter, in opposition from one another. Not only are they in opposition, but they reside in each other’s signs, Gemini and Sagittarius. Both occupy signs where they have very limited resources, in a sense they are in arrested development.
Gemini, ruled by Mercury is concerned with all things related to mind, mouth, and action. Like a fluttering butterfly, Mercury in Gemini moves from idea to idea, pollinating and pulling ideas in, and pushes problem-solving and crowd-sourcing out.
Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, is less concerned with the little details, but zooms out with a panoramic lens and jumps fearlessly into the present moment. Figuring out the very next step as they are taking it. Jupiter is concerned with the big goals, the big ideas, but the route isn’t always clear. Mercury is more of the planner, but his executive skills are currently paralyzed.
Both planets, Mercury and Jupiter, occupy strange lands, and the tension reaches across the zodiacal wheel, pulling restlessly and aimlessly at both houses in the chart.
On November 25th, Mercury stations retrograde at 22°, further increasing mental agitation and nebulous daydreaming. During this retrograde, the action planet, Mars is also slowing down in Leo preparing for his debilitating retrograde on Dec 6th. The two planets associated with speed are now spinning their wheels, and going nowhere fast.
This is a really good period to give over to this time, where the mind seems to be sinking into quicksand. The most fatal step one can make when trapped in the death grip of quicksand is to keep moving. This period from Nov 25th until Dec 5th, any quick solution or attempt to problem solve, may only bury you further. This is where optimistic faith steps in.
On Dec 5th, Mercury, will move backwards into the heart of the Sun, producing a dynamic cazimi. This may be the most effective day to apply rational thought and logic to whatever ails you. This cazimi also comes on the heels of a New Moon in Sagittarius on Dec 1st, sowing new visions and plus-positive problem solving. Here in this astral window, the centaur is encouraged to load up his arrow and pull back on the bow, and aim for new horizons.
This will be a more challenging retrograde for Mercury, with the planet in overall detriment, but there is also an opportunity to rely less on logic and more on optimistic intuition. Mercury likes to have every stepped plan, and apply rational reasoning to the well constructed planetary waltz. Here in Sagittarius he must bow down to Jupiter’s will, learn to tap into the inner voice that gets swallowed by logic, and be moved by the rhythmic zodiacal beats. This Mercury retrograde will rest more on faith, and will ask of you to trust speed of how the plan is unfolding.
Be patient with this particular devotion this month, “ I will to will Thy Will”. Maybe under this retrograde we don’t force anything, but open up to what is trying to slip in. This particular prayer knows that to achieve anything worth having, we must be internally pressurized and moved by something divine. Thy will isn’t always the intended path, but the right path.
Where is your inner voice trying to lead you this month? Are you repeatedly hitting a wall with a project? Perhaps tune in deeper this month, put some good drum beats on and let yourself dance wildly and uninhibited. Allow the pressure to build and move with no judgement, no expectations. See what ideas, what little voices flow in, and follow that thread into December 5th.
Where does one’s will truly reside and what magic will appear?
