Poisoned Wells

On September 24, 2024, a historic ruling by the United States District Court of the Northern District of California has ordered the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to take regulatory action in regards to the practice of water fluoridation and its levels in our drinking water supply. The court ruled that water fluoridation poses potential health risks to the public, specifically in children and pregnant mothers and their brain development.

Fluoride in the water supply has been contentious since day 1. There were many early anti-fluoride advocates in the early 1950s objecting to public consumption in the name of better dental health.

The first introduction to fluoride began on January 25, 1945, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This began as a 15-year trial experiment of fluoridating the water supply. Many other communities side-stepped the 15-year trial results and began introducing fluoride into their community water plants within the first year. By 1948, 577,683 Americans were receiving fluoridated tap water (CDC).  By 1954, the number of Americans receiving fluoridated water passes 20 million (CDC). There were essentially no controlled test subjects.

Advocates for fluoride argue it provides better dental health, decrease in cavity and tooth decay. In the early 50’s and 60’s the numbers showed fluoride’s role in decreasing cavities and tooth decay to be up to 60%. Today reports now show it may be up to 25% effective.

Many concerns over fluoridated water include its role as a neurotoxin disrupting brain development and hormonal response. It is claimed to cause certain rare bone cancers which have been studied and confirmed in animal studies, lower IQ scores in children and major chromosome damage. It has also been shown in high amounts to encourage tooth decay, weakening the enamel. It also has been show to cause bone decay and skeletal weakness, high blood pressure, tooth discoloration, and seizures.

Although small amounts of fluoride is naturally occurring, fluoride for the water supply is manually added through three-forms, sodium fluoride, fluorosilicic acid, and sodium fluorosilicate. The most common and cheapest form used, is fluorosilicic acid which is a byproduct of phosphate fertilizer. This is an inorganic compound that is an industrial waste product that contains trace amounts of arsenic and lead. The phosphate industry has no way of safely disposing this compound, yet it found a way through our water supply plants.

The fluoride levels deemed safe for consumption range is from .7 ppm to 1.2 ppm, contingent on local climate. In 2015, a new US guidance level for community water systems was updated to .7 mg/L for safety regulation. The central question in the trial is whether fluoride poses an ‘unreasonable risk,' even at this approved level. After a 7-year court battle,  one that restarted this January 2024, Judge Edward Chen ruled that scientific evidence presented that this level of fluoride exposure may damage human health, especially to pregnant mothers and young children. The risk did not outweigh the dental benefits.

The Astrology of Fluoride in US Water Supply

Let us look at two astrological charts, the inception chart of fluoride entering the community water facilities and the first federal ruling regarding the safety of fluoridated water and public consumption.

Introduction of Fluoride to the Masses

January 25, 1945, at 4:00 pm (time specifically stated on the CDC website regarding fluorides timeline) fluoride officially entered the first community water system in Grand Rapids, MI.

This puts Cancer rising at the helm of this whole conversation. Which is fitting, Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which not only oversees our body and health, but also is a symbol of our community and mother earth. It is a water sign that has been associated with protecting the local environment, the matrix we swim in, the well we pull our water from. On this day the Moon was present and in her domicile in the sign of Cancer at 7°. Guess who else was present with our night queen? Saturn. Saturn sits retrograde at 5°, the Moon had just aspected Saturn, translating the Saturn archetype through its reflective light.

Saturn of course is associated with death and decay, and ironically the skeletal system and teeth. Saturn is also associated with rules, regulations, constrictions and boundaries. Saturn can direct us to the authortative figure, and here he influences the Moon, her body, our water, our temple. Saturn has also been associated with waterways and agriculture. A heavy pressing Saturn melding with the Moon mother in her home sign of water ways and hearth, can signify poisoned wells and significant harm to the body.

I find it interesting that as fluoride found its way into our communal waterways, our community wells, they shifted from the more expensive sodium fluoride compound to the cheaper and more dangerous agriculture hazardous waste product, fluorosilicic acid.

Many studies have shown that excessive high fluoride can weaken and cause tooth and skeletal decay. It should also be noted this is a day chart, and the most harmful malefic is Mars. Mars sits in Capricorn where he finds exaltation, but he sits exactly on the descendant degree, and is applying by 3° to the South node. Eclipses were coming through these particular zodiac signs, and one just had taken place just 12 days prior, placing this in the eclipse zone. Capricorn is cardinal earth, and ruled by Saturn. Capricorn is less concerned with the community and is more focused on what is best for the individual and self. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn with an image of a sea goat also oversees the land, agriculture and waterways.

In this chart we have Mars, an inflaming nuisance opposing Saturn and sitting on that point where the Sun sets, implying hidden dangers, literal decay and death. Mercury is also closely aspecting Mars with a 1° application, signifying communication and health. Mercury and Mars closely aspecting and opposing the Moon and Saturn suggests that the conversation around fluoride in the water ways and in regards to our health will always be a contentious one at best. The opposition of both malefics with the Moon, which rules over the body and health of the community in a water sign depicts an image of a highly contested medical intervention in a community at the mercy of the individual.

First Federal Court Ruling Against Fluoride’s Safety

Now let us turn our attention to the first federal court ruling. The rising sign in this chart is potentially Aquarius. Many articles state it was a late-day verdict, which safely places Aquarius on the ascendant up until 5:30 pm, otherwise it shifts to Pisces rising. Saturn rules Aquarius, and is transiting in Pisces. Either way, Saturn is at play and is again in a water sign, this time in Pisces. I have written numerous posts on Saturn’s time in Pisces denoting toxic water ways, and the need during this period to filter, clean and clear. This can be metaphorically, in regards to our personal environment or literally like a water treatment plant. Saturn sits at 14° Pisces and is retrograde, similar to the inception chart. Aquarius is about our community and the good of the people. It should be noted that this case was originally brought by concerned citzens against the EPA.

In this chart, Saturn is aspecting Mars not by a challenging aspect, but a helpful one, a trine. Amazingly enough the Moon is back in Cancer sitting just at 5 degrees, the same degree point Saturn was at in 1945, and Mars also sits in Cancer at 11°. Mars in Cancer is the warrior protecting the water ways, he is the foot soldier circling the community well. When invoked in Cancer, the sign of the mother and home, Mar’s shackles are always raised. The well has been poisoned and Mars is a call to community action and specifically calls on Saturn who brought the death to clean it up. Saturn and Mars in a helpful aspect that is attributed to the nature of Jupiter ushers in justice, calling for a pause to a program that has put many at risk, especially for mother and child, which is after all the universal signifier of Cancer.

In the sign of Libra, where the scales of Justice sit, the Sun is transiting directly over Chiron, the wounded warrior. This is also within the eclipse window, with the South node in Libra conjunct the inception charts natal Neptune in the 4th house of home and family. Eclipse currents run through both charts. This has been a nebulous battle since the early days, and many have been labeled as conspiracy theorists for objecting to a mass medical treatment with absolutely no control subjects and full transparency. Chiron is an archetype that denotes transformational healing through initial wounds and pain. Perhaps this is the justice to be served.

I do believe that this last Libra solar eclipse for 2024 is the closing out of one chapter in modern US history and is opening up a new chapter of more transparent health practices. This may be attributed to a greater exposure of knowledge and greater expansion in means of communicating that knowledge. We are already seeing many communities implementing this ruling by pausing the fluoridation treatments. Maybe I am optimistic.

This fight for filtering out fluoride in our drinking water is not over, the EPA can repeal this federal ruling. I imagine as Mars opposes Pluto and turns retrograde retreating back again to Cancer by this coming winter, there will be further action and push-back brought by the EPA and by anti-fluoride activists. Late spring of 2025 and the early summer months could see greater movement towards change with this ruling, even if there is a repeal.

It is also good to note that in the inception chart, Pluto sits at 9° Leo. Pluto will be officially entering Aquarius in November this year. The exact Pluto opposition won’t occur until the year of 2029, yet we will certainly begin to see more and more exposure around possible corruption of health agencies and lobbying. I do think as Pluto transits over the inception chart’s 5° Aquarius Sun, this will start to really shift not only public opinion but actual legislation. If correct, this will really begin in 2026 as Pluto applies to the Sun and will peak in 2027-2028. This is also the closing Saturn square for the inception chart.

I hope this was helpful. Clearly I have taken a side in this discussion, I have always been a huge proponent of removing heavy toxins from our daily environment, especially food and water ways. This has always been my stance and a hill my Pisces Moon and Cancer Sun will gladly die on.
