The Journey of Venus

Are you bilingual?

Venus has a story to tell. In all reality, she has been speaking for a while. Maybe she lent you the softer words in relationships asking for compromise, mediating a situation where it seemed a negotiation was unconceivable. She has been in her own temple of Libra since the last days of September, and will remain in her place of power until October 23rd. Her entrance into Scorpio will not be a quiet whisper though.

Currently, Venus is just under the beams of the Sun, before she went into this phase, her status in the heavens was that of a morning star. Venus placement in the sky is preferred to shine like a jewel in the evening sky. If you were to look up today, you would not find her, she is currently being blotted out by the Sun’s intense rays. This is normally a period the ancient astrologers viewed as a challenging position for any planet, and was described as “combustion”, being harmed by the Sun’s intense and close light. The one saving grace for any planet under the harsh beams of the Sun, was being in its own rulership, or chariot, which Venus possesses in Libra. Riding in her own chariot is just enough protection for her as she hits a square to Pluto on the 19th of October, which can bring heavy internal matters to the surface and possibly get a chance for a regenerating makeover.  This is a period where a breaking courage may finally appear where originally fear lied, allowing one to fully potentiate a situation that is begging for evolution. One just needs to be wary of manipulation of power, working to harness it in the light of Libra and not in the shadows of justice, is key.

What is potent and beautiful about her next move before she enters her fall in Scorpio, is at the 29 degree point she will join the Sun exactly into an explosive cazimi. Cazimis are viewed by ancient astrologers as being an almost magical, illuminating transit, one that can usher in great insight, wisdom and fresh perspective. This cazimi is also happening at the very last degree of Libra, a degree point known as the anaretic degree. This transit points to a very special moment of greater knowing, compassion, insight and understanding, but possible endings being at the last degree of Libra.

Take note of what comes into your life, your mind and heart on the 22nd of October when this cazimi perfects to the exact degree. It is an opportune moment to seek compromise, solutions, and to see deeper beauty into any aspect that may seem out of harmony. This Venus cazimi offers us all a chance to find the absolute divine beauty that hums underneath all of life’s rigid issues that seem impermeable. It is a flash, an insight, if we remain open and quiet enough to allow it to enter fully, we may just feel the hand of the goddess herself. It may be the end of something that we haven’t had the courage to just walk away from, this may be a period with the encouragement of Pluto, to find the proper solution. As I have spoken to before, we cannot take each tranist in a vacuum, there is a fluidity to the cosmos.

Venus will begin to prepare to take her place as an evening star, but will not be visible in the night sky fully for 60 days. While preparing for her place in the night sky and still invisible, she is still speaking though in more clandestine whispers. Venus immediately will move into Scorpio, this is a very challenging place for compromising Venus.

Scorpio, the temple of Mars the warrior, is not as accommodating to Venus’s needs and she must give into his emotional demands. Her weaker position in Scorpio only intensifies on the 25th of October when she conjoins the Sun and the Moon in a solar eclipse, no longer protected in her chariot, this eclipse will illuminate where in our life the love and passion is no longer burning and will ask for us to revaluate and take action to sever. This eclipse season, with another occurring on November 8th, have the potential for chaotic and messy energies. Venus and her ability or lack of ability to smooth the rough edges, is a major plot line. At times, this will make us feel out of emotional ammunition.

Venus is on a deep love journey, maybe not the Hollywood love story we all wish for with a happy ending, but one of absolute transformation. It may be an activity, a person, a place we do love- but love differently these days. The next two months, as she moves through eclipses and into her evening star position, the love language we have spoken may be transformed or maybe we even become bilingual with how we speak in regards to our own needs and deep dreams.

Astrology again reminds us to grab our umbrella when we know the storms are approaching. It is not to scare us, impede our actions with fear, but engage us more fully and deeply with what is surfacing in our own lives and those around us. Firmly I stand in the belief that life is meant to engage the full human experience, which more often than not is challenging us to grow and learn through the discomfort it tends to bring.

Astrology is just one path that allows us to submerge our life into a more divine and numinous experience, this in turn breathes oxygen into the whole theater of humanity.
