The Crone At The Temple
Intuitively, I began internally conversing with my borderline future crone, the one whom I know is on the rise as much as I don’t care to acknowledge. Pluto represents death and the underworld, as well as plowing nutrient-deficient fields that are suffering from degraded soil health. The Crone, an archetype of the aging woman who has slipped out of her maiden years and now is approaching the last leg of her journey, is a sacred image as a woman. She reminds us of the impending end, but can also possess a repository of extensive wisdom, intuition and insight. She asks us for sacrifices, but gives us heightened sense of life and if we are really listening, messages from beyond. She is the qualitative aspect of quantitative time.
Probing the Sun
Aries Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024 explored along with the week's planetary transits. From CERN to NASA to your own Sun's desires, this is a dynamic week of tectonic plates of the world, inner and outer, shifting. There is a lot of action on April 8th, and it speaks to new initiating new ideas, new paths, new projects, but there are also hiccups and shadows to deal with. Moving forward is the name of the game with New Moons, but the real action comes at the first quarter. This eclipse is setting the wheels in motion, or launching the rockets into the air, but the first real check will be April 10th when Mars and Saturn meet, Saturn sets a sound barrier to Mars’ launch and holds it hostage. Saturn and Mercury retrograde are both asking for you to apply sound wisdom and to slow it down. On April 11th, Mercury steps back further into the heart of the Sun and we can mine this wisdom here on that day, you may find that the information you are seeking is found during the cazimi, this is a moment of hidden insight.
The Retreat of Hermes
Mercury, the trickster God, tricks us all on April Fool’s Day, stationing retrograde, possibly halting our own communication, delaying contracts, scrambling our technology, and revising our plans. Like any good prank, the retrograde can bring frustration and uncertainty.
Clearing The Temple
Astrological New Year
Spring begins late on the eve of March 19th at 11:07 pm est. The Sun shifts out of Pisces and into Aries. This is the beginning of the solar new year in the northern hemisphere. The Sun has traveled through the entire zodiac, enduring the final death throes of winter as he swam through the Piscean waters that holds equally to the dark and light, winter and spring. Light has prevailed. Aries season commences and we begin again. Renewed, recharged, rearmed and blissfully hopped up on straight shots of Vitamin D.
The Muse of Tori Amos
Tori was made for the stage, she incarnated to perform. It was written in the stars, it was the light from another dimension dancing in her toddler’s eyes, speaking directly to heart and to her fingers. Yet it wasn’t just performance for entertainment sake, but the performance was and is an expression for the more subterranean, illusive moments of life that stir, bubble, crack, rise and seek to expel.
Pisces New Moon
The Pisces New Moon profects at 20 degrees on March 10th at 4:01 am est. The New Moon is caught in between Saturn at 11 degrees Pisces and Neptune at 27 degrees Pisces. This juxtaposition between Saturn the realist and Neptune the dreamer, has both Piscean fish swimming in two directions. I like this for Pisces, a mutable water sign that sits between winter and spring, dark and light, this is a familiar place for the slippery fish. The cord that binds the two keeps them in check from swimming too far into one direction, and I feel like this particular lunation is a reality check, or a grounding point to our bigger dreams and plans.
Shifting Waters
Both Saturn and Mercury are swimming in the darker waters, the underworld. On Feb 28th, they will each get pulled out of Hades, encouraged by the cord that binds, and respectively enter the heart of the Pisces Sun.
Tensions & Upgrades
Pisces-Hope Restored
It is quite the watery ingress for Pisces season this time around in 2024. Here in Michigan, all 3 water signs are being activated, with a Scorpio rising at 0 degrees, Pisces Sun at 0 degree and a Cancer Moon at 0 degrees. The Sun and the Moon are in a waxing gibbous phase, which first began at the Aquarius New Moon on Feb 9th. The Moon is elevated in Cancer too, this is Luna’s safe space. Here the Moon is well-fed and cared for. This 0 degree mark initiates a coming Pisces season with all the marks of heightend sensitivity, intuition and emotional reception, and a perfect time to tune into the divine and the divinity within. This is a season of the spirit and soul reconnecting through faith.
Aquarian Planetary Parade
The water-bearer’s vessel overflows with planetary pressure. Sun, Moon and a multitude of planets are building and swirling in the sign of Aquarius, complemented by a New Moon February 9th.
Any planet currently joining Pluto isn’t exactly light and easy, but it is also the first time since the late 1700’s they joined the underworld lord in the sign of Aquarius. This is a point of observation and study, it will lend hints to what exactly we will be encountering as individuals and/or collective in the next 20 years during Pluto’s extended stay. The 3 personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars parading into Aquarius are very much directed to us individually, and if we have any personal planets aspecting these transits, the volume may be turned up full blast. These transits are all adding to collective compost soup could enrichen and enliven the soil. It is up to us to filter out the waste that is antithetical to future life.
First Principle: Sun & Moon
We are all the Fool on the journey. Exploring first principles in astrology, the Sun and the Moon and the connection to the first two cards of the tarot major arcana, the Magician and the High Priestess.
Pluto & The Chariot
This charioteer is ready to explore the future and perhaps the past, always remaining connected to the divine and also feeling protected from what is ahead. He knows he is moving into unchartered territory, and yet he holds strong and confident in faith.
From Earth To Air
Aquarius season begins with Pluto’s arrival on January 20, 2024. Let us first reflect where we have been, so we can be aware of the twenty year path forward.
New Moon, New You!
Capricorn New Moon reminds us of what we placed on the altar at the new year, and encourages us to fortify our path forward.
Winter Solstice 2023
To our ancestors, this period of growing darkness gave way to various rituals and celebrations, honoring the dark and the return of the light. All festivities and rituals were focused around the gradient aspect of light, and ultimately the return of the Sun. Darkness is just one side of the scale, yet it always is light that remains, and this is the beauty in our relationship to solstice.
Mercury’s Reversal
Mercury has stationed retrograde today. Second to Full Moons, Mercury retrogrades are pretty common knowledge. Those of us who even follow astrology loosely know that Mercury retrogrades can affect communication, technology, and transportation. This can show up as a computer failing, cracking the screen of your phone, getting in a car accident, or car not starting.
Not all retrogrades of Mercury will be felt by everyone, as always it is natal chart dependent.
Obscured by Clouds
Full Moon in Gemini, the ruler of this lunation, Mercury is squaring off to Neptune in Pisces. Clarity is hard to access, indecision haunts.
Hunting Old Ghosts
The house of Scorpio is heavily activated all of November. This is the sign of the scorpion, the one who was dispatched to hunt the great hunter, Orion. It was the scorpion who emerged from a deep underground cavern, ordered by Gaia herself, to take down the giant Orion, who boasted he could and would kill all wild beasts that roamed the earth. It was quite a battle, but Scorpius prevailed, eliminating Orion and gaining the intrigued eye of Zeus.
On Monday, November 13, the Sun and Moon meet in the sign of Scorpio, a lunation that is no longer an eclipse, but a very significant new Moon. This new Moon is also sharing the same space with Mars who has only recently opposed Uranus, which has the markings of Orion’s brashness, aggressiveness and ego. It also has notes of explosive courage, sudden creative surges, increased competitiveness, and assertiveness that can quickly transmute into authoritative control. This New Moon will also oppose Uranus, and will quickly be followed a Moon and Mars conjunction, again enticing the warrior to draw swords, hearts and hearths to protect.
Planetary Apothecary: An Eclipsing Opposition
October 28th, we have the final lunar eclipse along the Taurus*Scorpio axis at 5 degrees in Taurus. This will be a partial lunar eclipse, blotting out the full Moon partially, nonetheless potent and important to a nearly 2-year storyline of this specific eclipse cycle.
